Connecticut: On Friday, two judges were sworn into their new positions on appellate courts in Connecticut. Early in the day, Carmen E. Espinosa was given the oath of office, while later, Governor Dannel Malloy swore in Lubbie Harper. Of the experience, Harper said, "While I'm excited about the new challenges...I must admit I am still humbled to hear the word `Justice' before my name."[1]

Espinosa, who has served as a teacher, a FBI agent and federal prosecutor, was sworn in to succeed Harper on the Connecticut Appellate Court. Harper follows Joette Katz on the Connecticut Supreme Court. Both appointees technically would serve eight-year terms, though Harper will meet the mandatory retirement age in 2012.[2]
