Lucy Allen
Lucy Allen is a former Commissioner of the North Carolina Utilities Commission, serving from 2010-2013. She was previously a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. She represented District 49 from 2003-April 2010 when she resigned to become a commissioner.[1]
Biography
Allen was born in Louisburg, North Carolina. She attended Duke University and Meredith College, graduating from Meredith College with a B.A. in English. After college, she taught middle school language arts and served for eight years on the Franklin County Board of Education.
Allen served as Mayor of Louisburg for 16 years, and owns and operates the town's municipal electric system. In 2002, she was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives and served four consecutive terms.[2]

Allen served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2003 until April 2010, when she was appointed to the North Carolina Utilities Commission.[2]

Allen did not seek re-election due to her appointment to the North Carolina Utilities Commission by Gov. Beverly Perdue (D) on April 12, 2010.[2] She was replaced on the ballot by John May (North Carolina).
2008
On November 4, 2008, Allen won re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives.[3]$87,390 was raised for this campaign.[4]
