Campaign themes

2014

Sotelo's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Excellence In Education

  • Excerpt "Our work starts with focusing on education. A stronger K-12 education system will help strengthen our overall economy, and an affordable college system will help retain Nebraska’s economic competitiveness. By fixing how our school districts receive funding, we move towards equal educational opportunities for all — without raising our taxes."

Our Economic Future

  • Excerpt "Let’s rebuild our middle class security. Luis supports our small-businesses and family farms, and will encourage entrepreneurship. By fighting for a more efficient government, Luis will lift unnecessary burdens off the middle class and put money back in the pockets of our families."

Strengthening Our Communities

  • Excerpt "Luis wants to make it easier for parents and their children to preserve the rural good life. This needs to also be reachable for our older middle and working class Nebraskans, because no one who spends a life working hard should fear a retirement of making ends meet. Let’s start pursuing policies that truly value families, instead of just talking about family values."
