Hopkins' campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Alaska's future is in jeopardy and we need new leadership in the State Senate. I'm running because the leadership we have today, the same leadership we've had in Juneau for too long, hasn’t shown the ability to solve our fiscal crisis and put our state back on track. The skills I put to work as your mayor, I will bring to Juneau. I made the hard choices and put our borough on the path to success, and I will do the same for Alaska. We cannot have our UAF Engineering Building standing idle while an overbuilt Anchorage Legislative Information Office gets millions. I will keep fighting for lower cost natural gas for our empty North Pole gas lines. Our families and businesses must share in the gas credits others continue to reap. And most important, I will take a stand and work to unite the legislature and Alaska behind a solution to our deficit crises that will make Alaska's budget sustainable for generations to come. I will fight to create Alaskan jobs by returning our capital budget and construction projects back to the powerhouses they should be. Our community needs a new senator with a record of success who will bring positive solutions. With your support we can secure a better future.[1] |
