The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the general election was September 22, 2014. District 71 incumbent Michel Lajoie was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Luke Jensen was unopposed in the Republican primary. Lajoie defeated Jensen in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
