On his website, Walawander expressed support for "a broad based education system" with expanded use of technology, a culture of accountability, the preservation of freedoms, tax reform focused on small business, and "family prosperity."[1]

Walawander ran in the 2012 election for Montana House of Representatives, District 12. Walawander ran unopposed in the June 5 primary election and was defeated by incumbent Daniel R. Salomon (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
