Campaign themes

2016

Walters' campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Education: The most important resource in our state is our children. The current leadership of our legislature has led us into an unprecedented disaster. Our budget crisis has forced deep budget cuts to public education. This is absolutely unacceptable and must be stopped. As a State Representative, I would use all the resources available to me to make sure public education in Oklahoma improves every year. We will make sure our educators are given the resources needed to do their jobs effectively.
  • Earthquakes: As a homeowner in Edmond, I’m worried about Earthquakes. I know I am not alone in my concern that one day we experience a massive quake that will result in loss of life and property. I do not accept the excuse that Oklahoma lies on a fault line and that the increase in seismic activity was inevitable. As your representative in the State House, I will fight to expose the true cause of the earthquakes, and also work with all parties to find a feasible solution to a growing crisis in our state.
  • State prosperity: Oklahomans want a prosperous state. We all work together to create a safe place to raise a family. We help those in need in times of despair. We have had our fair share of disasters, and we have always found a way to rise above the loss, which some call “The Oklahoma Way”. The prosperity and success of our state is a non- partisan issue. As a State Representative, I will value good ideas from all Oklahomans. The party of the person should not matter if the idea will promote the good of the State of Oklahoma.[4]
