Biography

Lynda Jones was born in Lima, Ohio. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1986 and a J.D. from the University of Memphis in 1989. Before her election to the court in 2014, Jones was the managing partner at her law firm, The Jones Law Group PLLC, in Nashville, Tennessee.[1][2]

Jones ran for election to the Davidson County General Sessions Court.
Primary: She was successful in the Democratic primary on May 6, 2014, receiving 24.7 percent of the vote. She competed against Jefre S. Goldtrap, Tee Gorham, Sheryl Guinn, Paul Walwyn, Jay Norman, and Edward S. Ryan.
General: She defeated Adam Dread in the general election on August 7, 2014, receiving 58.9 percent of the vote. [3][4][5]

Jones has served the court for 8 years, served as President of state wide judges conference and as District 6 director of NAWJ. She has collaborated with government officials, private partners and nonprofit stakeholders to create a Homeless.court. she was selected to serve in a judicial fellowship network. She is a widow with one child .
