Lynn Cobb
Lynn Cobb is a judge for Division 1 of the Shelby County General Sessions Court in Tennessee. He assumed office on May 20, 1997. His current term ends on September 1, 2030.
Cobb ran for re-election for the Division 1 judge of the Shelby County General Sessions Court in Tennessee. He won in the general election on August 4, 2022.
Biography
Education
Cobb received a B.A. in economics from Wofford College in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Memphis Law School in 1976. In addition to his real life legal career, he has been cast as a lawyer in two movies, "The Firm" and "Separated by Murder".[1]
Career
In the beginning of his career, Cobb worked as an auditor in the inheritance tax division of the Tennessee Department of Revenue before becoming a lawyer. He first practiced for a year with Charles Perkins and then spent a year as an assistant city attorney. After that, he joined the law firm of Neely, Green, Fargarson and Brooke, where he worked for 15 years. He spent the year before his judicial appointment practicing from his home. Throughout his 18 years as a lawyer, he specialized in insurance litigation. In 1994, he joined the Shelby County Attorney's Office, where he worked on a part-time basis until becoming a judge in 1997.[1]
