Lynn Cogdill was a candidate for the Area 3 seat on the Madera Unified School District school board in California. Cogdill was defeated in the by-district general election on November 8, 2016.[1]

Cogdill previously served on the board as the Trustee Area 2 representative. He served from 2010 to 2014, when he was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014.[2][3]

Three of the seven seats on the Madera Unified School District Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In his bid for re-election to Area 1, incumbent Ray Seibert defeated challenger Luis Carrillo. Newcomer Ruben Mendoza ran unopposed and won election the open Area 3 seat by default. Area 6 incumbent Ricardo Arredondo also won re-election, defeating former school board member Lynn Cogdill.[1][4]

At the time of this election, the Madera County Elections Division did not publish school board candidate campaign finance reports online. Ballotpedia staff directly requested this information, but the county would not provide the reports without cost.[5]

Four seats on the Madera Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. In Trustee Area 2, incumbent Lynn Cogdill faced two challengers, Ed McIntyre and Jimmy Monreal. McIntyre defeated Cogdill and Monreal to win the seat. Trustee Area 4 incumbent Maria Velarde-Garcia ran against challengers Philip Huerta and Ron Montoya and won her bid for re-election. Newcomer Al Galvez ran unopposed and won election to Trustee Area 5 by default. The Trustee Area 7 race featured incumbent Jose Rodriguez and challenger Brent A. Fernandes. Fernandes defeated Rodriguez and won the election.
