Lyord Watson, Jr. is the former District 2 representative on the Birmingham City Schools school board in Alabama. Watson won a first term in the by-district general election on August 27, 2013.

Watson is a native of Brewton, Alabama. His mother spent more than 30 years as an educator in the Alabama public school system.[1] He earned a Bachelor's degree in business management from Samford University before continuing on to receive his master's of divinity from the Beeson Divinity School of Samford University.[2] After graduating, Watson became a philanthropist and a founding member of the Birmingham Change Fund.[1] At the time of his tenure, Watson served as the associate pastor at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church.[1]
