Biography
M. Sherm Porter was born in Wilmington, Delaware. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1994 to 1998. His career experience includes working as a president and business owner. Porter has served with the board of directors at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, the board of directors at the Delaware Association for the Education of Young children, and Del Vets Post#1.[1]

|Born and raised in Delaware, Sherm graduated from Christiana High School and continued his education in hospitality management attending Delaware Technical Community College and the University of Delaware, from 1991 to 1994. His education gave him the necessary skills to build his business. As he often says, “Planning for the future of Delaware begins with education.” Sherm is a proud third generation Navy veteran. He served his country (as a E5/OS2) from 1994-1998, where he served as an (OS) Occupational Specialist, a rescue swimmer, and Air-Traffic controller for the USS Mt. Whitney LLC-20.
He has advocated for multiple charitable organizations and fundraised throughout multiple communities. Most recently, he was nominated as a 2021 Man/Woman of the Year candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has also helped with Downs Syndrome of Delaware, Hope Street, Preston's March and Autism Delaware f- By focusing on education we will be able to equip students with the tools needed to prepare them for the future.

- Veterans are often forgotten when they return home. They are one of our greatest assets. I plan on ensuring they have the resources for a great future in Delaware.
