I graduated from University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!) with my degree in chemical engineering. My first career was as an engineer at the Savannah River Site working in Aiken, South Carolina. These days I work as a cybersecurity professional in critical infrastructure helping power companies, water utilities, and oil and gas pipelines defend against cyber attacks.

I went on to get my MBA from USCA and a Masters in Cybersecurity from SANS Institute of Technology following my passion of learning and technical work.

I have worked in cyber threat intelligence, seeing the trends of foreign nation state actors to disrupt and sow discourse between us. Personally, I am tired of the animosity that is propagated along social divides. It is time to come together and work for a productive future without the hate.
  • The current legislature has an average age of 55 with 1/3 of them being lawyers. I will bring a breath of fresh air and new ideas to a body that is unequipped to handle this problem because they do not understand the extent of the internet’s, AI’s and Machine Learning’s capability to change our lives on a scale similar to the industrial revolution.
  • I have an action plan. I am not simply musing into political office without specific goals in mine. There are five pieces of legislation I plan to bring to the floor my first year listed at Mack4sc.com/action.
  • Ideas aren't perfect the first time around. By regularly engaging with members of my community and making myself available on a weekly basis, solutions to Aiken and South Carolina's problems can be refined and improved. I never plan to be aloof or unreachable, and while we might not always agree on everything my goal to make sure arrive at a common understanding.
Smart growth balancing growth and conservation. Managing the explosive and unregulated use of artificial intelligence.

Improving the South Carolina education system.

Creating a home affordability program for working South Carolinians that demonstrate a perfect rental payment history.
There are so many people I look to and draw inspiration from. My parents are both amazing individuals who taught me how to navigate life. I look at my brothers and their decision making, my best friends for the perseverance it took for them both to start companies. Lastly in my career, I have mentors and coworkers that challenge me to get better at what I do everyday.
Book: Factfulness. The last 20 years has been surrounded by negative media and reinforcement through the internet and television that everything is going poorly. In reality the world is improving and it continues to progress. I don't want to look backwards, I want to look forward.
Integrity, honesty, and commitment to service. Your elected official will not know every detail of every law and happening in the state. What is important is the earnest effort to constantly learn and improve while admitting that their are gaps in one's knowledge.
Being a public official is a calling to service that should be done for the betterment of the state and not for the personal enrichment of the elected office.
I am an honest authentic individual. I am here to be transparent and reachable for my electorate. No one in Aiken will be wondering what is going on in my mind or what my intentions/goals are.
An elected official is a representing their electorate. You are the connection between your neighbor and the state legislature. Communicating the wishes and desire of your fellow citizen and the inner machinations of the state house is a core function of a state representative.
I want to leave the legacy of the person that accomplished what he set out to do and created solutions that are top class in the whole country.
I think my 3rd grade team winning the soccer championship was a historic event in my life. But I remember Y2K as a child and the turning of the millennia when I was five years old.
I grew up as a barn hand working on several horse farms. I worked for three years sun up to sun down most days taking care of the farm.
Heir Apparent. My older brother gave me this book when I was in middle school and I really enjoyed the story line of the book. It resonated with me as a kid that like videogames but also the challenges of iteratively trying to make better decisions through trial and error.
Seems like most fictional characters live in pretty harsh realities or have someone that is plotting to kill them. I'd like for there to not be an antagonist hell bent on my demise. I think Ash Ketchum had a pretty good life in Pokémon and seems like fun traveling the world just trying to get better everyday.
Pretty much the whole Noah Kahan discography
I have as many existential crises as the next person. I wake up each day trying to challenge myself to be better because I think that I will fall short. Either the disappointment of a customer, friend, family, or a voter.
A relationship characterized by collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to serving the interests of the state and its residents. However, as an elected representative your duty is to your electorate before the executive power of the state.
Smart growth, the economy of South Carolina is growing along with the population. As people are born or move to SC we need to ensure that urban sprawl does not replace the beautiful state. We don't need to stifle businesses but we cannot sacrifice the state or the individual for an endless pursuit in abject growth.
Yes; however I think that a representative body needs balance. Different demographics, ages, and career backgrounds would make for the most successful solution crafting. I am running for office because my background in cybersecurity has taught me that current officials are not equipped to handle the current technology landscape.
Collaboration has rarely hurt projects, and building relationships both with fellow state legislators and other state legislators will allow a newer member of the elected body to learn faster. At the end of the day it is critical to remember that your duty is still to your electorate before relationships of the legislature.
James K. Polk. Polk ran for office, declared what he wanted to do then went on to complete nearly every item and finally honored his pledge to only serve one term.

I am running for office to solve problems not because its my life goal to be a legislator for an endless period of time.
Those are lofty goals, I am focused on fixing problems in the state and doing a good job in the capacity. I have no right to ask voters to support me in future escapades without proving myself to them.
I am in the community every week. Any member of Aiken can find me and discuss their thoughts, beliefs, and life over a beer with myself. Multiple times conversations have caused me to evaluate the nuances of my positions and improve them. There are concerns that I am blinded to because I only have one perspective, hearing from others widens that view.

Executive emergency powers have to be granted on limited basis for a set period of time by the legislature otherwise we remove the checks and balances in the U.S. democracy.
Credit scores were invented in 1989 and stole the financial independence of Americans. Intended to create a system of trust worthiness, it has been abused and monopolized by three companies that have made mistakes in 25% of all citizen’s credit scores. Today, young Americans are finding themselves further and further away from home ownership and one of the principal reasons is the inability to get a mortgage. While missing a rent payment hurts your credit, making the payments gives zero benefits. How come a young couple can pay $1500/month to rent for five years without missing a payment but are unable to demonstrate credit worthiness for a $1200/month mortgage?

I am going to work with South Carolina based financial institutions to create a program that will include a solid record of rental payments alongside credit scores when considering mortgages. If a South Carolinian has a history of no missed rental payments for five years, they will be able to qualify for a mortgage for 80% of their rental payment.
My campaign is self funded that does not take donations, sponsorships or endorsements.
Ethics, Legislative Oversight, and Education and Public Works
The ability for elected officials to openly engage in investing while holding office has corrupted politics. All elected officials in America should move their money into a blind trust to prevent financial incentives from influencing decision making.
State ballot initiatives exist to get more of a direct democracy input on specific issues. They are also more powerful means of creating laws that could otherwise be overturned easily in the state legislation as members cycle through.
