Mackenzie Taylor was the Minnesota state director for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.[1] Taylor is a veteran of state and local campaigns in her home state of Minnesota.

  • She has extensive experience with the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesota and served as the party's coordinated campaign director in 2012.

    Early career

    While a student at Minnesota State University in Moorhead, Taylor began working on campaigns as a field organizer for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesota's House Caucus. After graduating in 2007, she coordinated two Minnesota campaigns. In 2007, she managed the campaign of Pakou Hang, a former community organizer running for St. Paul City Council.[2][3] Hang lost the election.[4] IN 2008, Taylor was the endorsement campaign coordinator for Ashwin Madia's (D) unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. House.[5]

    Maragret Kelliher 2010 gubernatorial

    During the 2010 election cycle, Taylor was field director for Margaret Kelliher's gubernatorial campaign.[2] Although she won the party's endorsement, Kelliher lost in the August 10, 2010, primary to Mark Dayton by less than 1 percent.[6]

    Between 2008 and 2012, Taylor worked in a number of positions with the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesota, including regional field director in 2008 and coordinated campaign manager in 2012.[7] As coordinated campaign manager, Taylor was involved in state and federal races throughout Minnesota.

    Minnesota Association of Public Employees

    In April 2014, Taylor joined the Minnesota Association of Public Employees (MAPE), an independent union of professionals employed by the State of Minnesota, as the political affairs coordinator.[8] At the time she was hired, Taylor introduced herself to MAPE members and described her previous relationship with the union, saying, "Working on campaigns, I've had the opportunity work with MAPE staff and members a lot over the years. ... I've always been really impressed with how MAPE has shown up and gotten boots on the ground, knocking on doors, talking to voters about the issues that matter most to our state."[9]

    Taylor joined Clinton's campaign in June 2016. According tothe Star Tribune, Clinton invested in Minnesota, a state "where supporters of Republican Donald Trump see untapped potential." Taylor told the paper that the Clinton campaign's strategy was to invest in every state. She said, "You’re going to see a 50-state strategy. We’re not taking anything for granted."[1]
