I'm a mom in the school district with one child in the sixth grade at the middle school and another at CSU who graduated from the district. My career has been in nonprofit administration, where I have learned more aspects of running nonprofit organizations. My undergrad and graduate degrees are in social work with a focus on more macro-level work, such as community development. I've been a resident of the Berea School District since 2009.
  • As the future of public funding is undecided, I'd like to use my experience in fundraising to brainstorm creative ways to fund our district.
  • Although our partnership with Polaris is already very strong, I am interested in pushing for more awareness of alternatives to college for our students.
  • I believe that all of us in the district truly want what's best for our students, teachers, and staff and that I can represent all the parents and residents of community by being honest and open to feedback.
I am very interested in reviewing current disciplinary practices and anti-bullying policies in the middle school. I heard from many parents that they weren't happy to send their children there based on the reputation. I also watched many parents send their children to alternative schools based on this reputation. I hope to work to improve this narrative.
My husband is my biggest role model. We got married and had our first child at a very young age. He is the most hard-working and focused person I know. He inspires me every day to just keep trying to meet goals. We are celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary this year and I cannot imagine life without him!
Elected officials represent everyone in their district, not just those that agree with all their political philosophies. Therefore, elected officials should be open-minded, kind, and willing to listen and compromise with those who have different political views.
A school board member’s role is to represent the community’s values, set policy, approve budgets, and ensure our schools are moving in the right direction. We’re here to listen to parents, students, and staff, and to make sure the district aligns with what our community needs.
