I am a parent of three Baltimore County Public Elementary School students who believes that every stakeholder in the school system deserves a seat at the table when it comes to educating our children.
  • Educating our children for a successful future.
  • Keeping divisive politics out of our classrooms.
  • Holding Baltimore County Public Schools fiscally accountable.
One of the most important policy changes I would like to see is full transparency of all curriculums, lessons, and materials used to teach in the classroom. BCPS Policy 6102 states that all controversial issues must be "presented in an impartial and objective manner and in an atmosphere that is free from bias and prejudice." The only way to ensure this policy is by allowing all stakeholders access to instructional materials.

We need policies that will ensure the safety for all students, teachers, and staff inside our school buildings. This includes being able to implement appropriate warnings and punishments to anyone who defies a school rule inside a school zone. Anyone who breaks a school rule should not be emboldened by having their actions ignored.

I would also like to see policies implemented that allows for the evaluations of all students to determine if they are performing at or above their grade level before the end of each school year. If any student, in any grade, is not performing at or above their grade level, every effort should be made to ensure that they are before they are graduated up to the next grade. Well over half of our Baltimore County students are reading, writing, and completing math assessments below their grade level. This is not acceptable and needs to be our number one priority as the Board of Education.
