Elections

Voter and candidate information

The Magnolia Independent Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected by district to three-year terms. Each member is elected to a specific position on the board, but represents the entire district. Elections are held every year in May with two or three seats on the ballot. The general election for Positions 1, 2, and 3 was held on May 7, 2016. There was no primary election.[2] The Position 6 and 7 seats were up for election in 2015, and the Position 4 and 5 seats were up for election in 2014.

To get on the ballot, candidates had to file with the school district secretary by February 19, 2016.[2] Individuals seeking office had to be residents of the state for 12 months and residents of the district for six months, prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot.[3]
