The Maine Educational Facilities and Land Acquisition Bond Issue, also known as Referendum Question No. 9, was on the November 4, 1969 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred bond question, where it was approved.[1] The measure issued $770,000 in bonds for the improvement of facilities and acquisition of land at Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institutes, and educational facilities at Maine Maritime Academy, the Unorganized Territory schools and Indian schools.[2]

The funds were appropriated in the following ways:[2]

  • $35,700 to Central Maine Vocational-Technical Institute
  • $105,000 to Eastern Maine Vocational-Technical Institute
  • $12,000 to Northern Maine Vocational-Technical Institute
  • $71,000 to Southern Maine Vocational-Technical Institute
  • $215,000 to Unorganized Territory Schools, including Indian Schools
  • $331,300 to Maine Maritime Academy

REFERENDUM QUESTION NO. 9

"Shall the State provide for more and improved facilities and acquisition of land at the State Vocational-Technical Institutes and of the Maine Maritime Academy and for the improvement of facilities at the Unorganized Territory Schools and Indian Schools by issuing bonds of the amount of $770,000?"
