The Maine Minimum Sentence for Sex Offenders Question did not make it on the November 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Maine as an indirect initiated state statute. The measure would have implemented a minimum sentence for sex offenders who commit a crime against victims who are the age of 12 or under. According to the Maine Secretary of State's website, the main sponsor of the measure was Starvos J. Mendros.[1]

Path to the ballot

Supporters of the measure had until the January 30, 2012 petition drive deadline to turn in 57,277 signatures to be considered for the 2012 ballot.

The measure's supporters did not collect enough signatures by the deadline to make the ballot.[2]
