Maine Real Property Acquisition for State Parks, Referendum Question No. 2 (1973)
The Maine Real Property Acquisition for State Parks Bond Issue, also known as Referendum Question No. 2, was on the November 6, 1973 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred bond question, where it was approved.[1] The measure issued up to $3 million in bonds for the acquisition of real property for state parks. The proceeds of the bonds were under the direction and supervision of the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. This was part of the creation of the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Acquisition.[2]
Aftermath
In 1986, $5 million in bonds were issued for the acquisition of wildlife habitats and land for public outdoor recreation. The proceeds of these bonds were credited to the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Acquisition Fund.[1][3][4]
