Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I will establish a Parents' Bill of Rights.

I will make addiction treatment readily accessible to all.

I will ensure that Lewiston makes it own fiscal decisions.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Ricky LaChapelle (R)

I am passionate about education, improving the economy, expanding access to addiction and mental health treatment and addressing the failing criminal justice system in our city.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Ricky LaChapelle (R)

Rick is very proud of his Franco-American heritage and enjoys telling the story of his grandmother’s journey to Lewiston many years ago. Rick’s mémère and her family migrated from Canada, arriving at the train station on Lincoln Street, the first step into their new life in Lewiston. In her alter years, Rick’s grandmother immortalized an immigrant story very similar to her own, starring in the lead role of “Lewiston: A New Home”, the award-winning play put on by the Lewiston Bicentennial Committee.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Ricky LaChapelle (R)

By the time Rick graduated from Lewiston High School in 1982, he already had a lengthy work history. His parents, Paul and Yvette LaChapelle, taught him a strong work ethic from a very young age. By the time Rick graduated, he had done everything from shoveling chicken coups to mowing lawns, and from bagging groceries to working full-time as a grocery clerk for Cotties. As a young, married father, Rick tried his hand as a bank teller, but gave that up to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and open his first business, as a food distributor. Within a year, a family friend offered him a job in the pawn business and there was no looking back. Rick and his wife have now owned the pawn business for over 20 years, and their success has allowed them to expand to include 6 pawn shops as well as several other businesses throughout Central Maine.
