Maine Uniform State Property Tax Question (1977)

The Maine Uniform State Property Tax Question was on the December 5, 1977 ballot in Maine as an indirect initiated state statute, where it was approved.[1] The measure repealed the uniform property tax and changed portions of the school funding law. The tax law had assessed all taxable property in the state at a uniform tax rate to finance no more than half of the public school education costs.[2]
