Malcolm Francis Marsh is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He joined the court in 1987 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

Early life and education

A native of Portland, Oregon, Marsh earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in 1951 and his LL.B. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1954.[1]

Military service

Marsh served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947.[1]

Marsh was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on February 2, 1987, to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon vacated by Edward Leavy. Hearings on Marsh's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 11, 1987, and his nomination was reported by then-U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) on March 19, 1987. Marsh was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on March 20, 1987, and he received his commission on March 24, 1987. Marsh elected to take senior status beginning on April 16, 1998.[1] He was succeeded in this position by Judge Anna Brown.
