Mamye BaCote
Mamye E. BaCote (b. February 18, 1939) is a former Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 95 from 2003 to 2016.
BaCote did not seek re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2015.
BaCote passed away on December 14, 2020.[1]
Biography
BaCote earned her M.A. from Hampton Institute in 1967 and her A.B. from Virginia Union University in 1960.
BaCote served as Councilwoman on the Newport News City Council from 1996 to 2003.[2] She worked as an educator in the Newport News Public School System and also worked as an adjunct professor.

BaCote's answers to the Virginia State Legislative Election 2007 National Political Awareness Test are available. When asked her priorities she stated, "My priorities are supporting funding + policies for public education + higher education, health care, transportation and public safety."[3]

BaCote won re-election in the 2013 election for Virginia House of Delegates District 95. BaCote ran unopposed in the June 11 Democratic primary and defeated John Bloom (R) in the general election on November 5, 2013.[4]
2011
BaCote is running for re-election to the District 95 seat of the Virginia House of Delegates. She was uncontested in the August 23 primary and will be opposed by Glenn McGuire (L) in the November 8 general election.[5]
