My life experiences, starting from my childhood in Cloquet, Minnesota, deeply shaped my desire to serve as your County Commissioner. Growing up in a hardworking, union family—my dad being a Vietnam veteran who built his career at the telephone company—I learned the importance of dedication, community, and service at an early age. Moving to the Twin Cities when I was exposed to a larger, more diverse community, which sparked my interest in understanding and addressing the needs of different people.

My education also played a significant role in my path to public service. After graduating from the Perpich Center for Arts Education and attending trade school, I settled in Fridley, where I’ve raised my two children and built strong connections within the community over the past 24 years. I’ve always been committed to community service, and my work as County Commissioner has allowed me to use that passion to connect people to the resources they need.

In this position, I’ve been able to bring my skills as a collaborator and connector to the table, listening to the challenges and aspirations of our residents and working with diverse partners to find solutions that improve lives. This blend of personal and professional experiences has driven me to seek—and now continue—this role, as I know there is more work to be done to support the people of Anoka County.
  • As Chair of the Human Services Committee, I advocated expanding Anoka County’s offerings for mental health services. When residents have access to the resources they need to thrive, our community can thrive.
  • Another issue I focus on is community development which includes maintaining safe and functional infrastructure, including roads, trails, and parks; expanding broadband connectivity to ensure all residents have access; and practicing open dialogue and engagement with diverse communities to ensure resident needs are centered in our work.
  • Finally, I will continue using my voice on the Anoka County Board to support the development and advancement of competitive trade professions in Anoka County so individuals entering the workforce know that they have many options for postsecondary education and careers.
Over the past 6 years, I built relationships within our community and across different levels of government that I leveraged to accomplish goals for our area. I’ve worked to bring government and community resources together to improve lives in Anoka County. I’m proud of the partnerships I’ve built with leaders and agencies across diverse sectors, always to find solutions that benefit everyone in District 7. My focus has been on listening to the needs of our residents, businesses, and nonprofits, and ensuring that their voices are at the center of our work.
Elected officials should be in office to serve their communities. We need to be able to advocate for our community, foster collaboration, and deliver results that make a real difference.
In this position, I’ve bring my skills as a collaborator and connector to the table, listening to the challenges and aspirations of our residents and working with diverse partners to find solutions that improve lives. It is vital that commissioners listen to their community and ensure that resident voices are integrated into all work that we do.
Over the past six years, I built relationships within our community and across different levels of government that I leveraged to accomplish goals for our area. I want my constituents to see that I worked really hard to bring meaningful change and improves to district seven.

These accomplishments include securing $3.5 million in state and federal funding for the SACA Food Shelf, and allocating $1 million in federal funding for the Hilltop emergency weather shelter and community center, guiding the Anoka County Board to fully fund the new pavilion in Kordiak Park in Columbia Heights, and more. I hope to earn your vote for a 3rd term on November 5th so we can continue building together on these achievements for our neighborhoods.
