Manuel J. Mendez is a judge for the 1st Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. He assumed office in 2020. His current term ends on December 31, 2025.
Mendez (Democratic Party) is also a judge of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Mendez was previously a judge of the New York City Civil Court. He was elected to this court in 2004.[1][2]
Education
Mendez received his B.S. degree from the Fordham University College of Business Administration in 1983 and his J.D. degree from the Universidad Central Del Este School of Law in 1987. He also attended the Fordham Law School Foreign Lawyers Program in 1989.[1]
Career
Mendez began his career in 1990, working in the Legal Aid Society's Criminal Defense Division. In 1993, he helped found the personal injury and criminal defense practice of Kwasnik & Mendez, Esqs. He then worked under the title Law Office of Manuel J. Mendez P.C. from 1999 through 2003. In 2004, he was elected to the New York City Civil Court.[1]
2012 election
Mendez was re-elected after running unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3][4]
