I'm a High School teacher with a Master's degree in Special Education. I come from the Humboldt Park Community and I am a product of two hard working Union member parents who have taught me the importance of community, education, and family. I grew up as a student in Special Education classes, and decided to become a special education teacher to advocate on behalf of students and parents. My wife recently became a United State Citizen and this process pushed my drive to stand up on behalf of the families that struggle with immigration issues. While attending UIC I volunteered with many organizations in and out of the community. I plan on working hard to represent my constituents and make my community a safer environment that fosters education, mental health, affordable housing and better immigration policies. Thank you to everyone who has helped us make it this far!

¡Gracias a todos los que nos han ayudado a llegar hasta aquí!

  • Manuel Jimenez Jr. will fight for his community. Empowering youth and families with resources to succeed. Bringing programs and resources like trade schools and financial literacy programs to give youth and families tools for success. Having more gainful employment will increase safety in the community. Also, he aims to increase access to mental health services to promote safety and well being of residents. Working together with community organizations is vital to distribute information about and promote the programs.
  • The attack on Women’s Right to Choose is important, because it is an attack on their freedom to make personal medical decisions. Further restrictions only cause harm to women mentally and physically. Forcing women to carry out an unwanted pregnancy is traumatizing and also negatively impacts their financial stability. Manuel Jimenez Jr. is willing to fight for the rights of all women to have access to safe legal abortions. The resrtictions on abortions affect working class and poor women disprepotionately. Due to restrictions in many states women have to spend a lot of time and money to have access to safe and legal abotions, money that they may not have. My goal is to ensure my constituents do not have to face these barriers. We must
  • Manuel Jimenez Jr. is an experienced Special Education Teacher who knows how vital education is to make a community thrive. The state must provide more resources to teachers and staff in order to ensure the best education possible for our students. Many schools experience a lack of funding for programs like music and art. These programs keep many kids in school and give them a safe and fun learning environment.
I am personally passionate about increasing resources for education and affordable healthcare. I found that there is a clear need for providing more resources to schools, as a former special education student and a current special education teacher. I am proud to soon finish my PhD. Which would not be possible without all the great educators I had along the way. This drives my passion to support our schools. I will also fight for affordable healthcare for everyone in this State. I struggled with health issues while attending UIC and received Dialysis treatments. I saw first hand the struggles that many people faced while seeking medical treatment. I will fight on behalf of the people who feel like they have no voice.
Some qualities I have grown over the years have been my ability to connect and relate to others. Being able to listen and take action accordingly is a skill I gained in my first year teaching. The ability to lead an entire classroom while maintaining that relationship with students, families, and staff.

My fellow teachers and students know that they can count on me to make change on their behalf. I have an optimistic viewpoint, but I also look at each situation from all sides before making a final decision.
The Legacy I would like to leave behind is for others to continue my hard work on behalf of the State and community. I would want the name Manuel Jimenez Jr to be remembered and to inspire young people to rise and become the leaders that this Country needs.

As a kid I have always learned differently. This became a struggle in everyday life. However, my ADD and ADHD have become my superpowers. When I got sick with my Kidney Disease I decided that I would never give up. My struggles have become my goals, and I am achieving each and everyone of them.
