My name is Maqsood Khan, and I am honored to seek re-election to the Franklin Public School Board. It has been a privilege to serve as the board Treasurer and I'm excited to share our progress.

As a devoted husband and father of five, my commitment to our community stems from the belief that every child deserves an advocate who treats them as their own. Over the past few years, I have seen firsthand my children's diverse learning styles, dreams, and talents, and I promise to continue advocating for yours with the same dedication.

I am a School Board member who values thorough consideration and believes in making decisions with clarity and the input of parents and teachers. I'm a hard worker dedicated to the continuous improvement of our schools and am eager to earn your vote on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Together, let's build a brighter future for Franklin Public Schools.
  • One of my key accomplishments during my tenure has been a relentless commitment to fiscal responsibility. When I was presented with a resolution proposing a 13.2% increase in the 2023 school tax levy, I took action and presented an amendment to decrease the proposed increase to 5%. This resulted in our ability to pay down the district's debts and improve the financial health of FPS. Balancing the budget is crucial, and I will continue to advocate for financial decisions that benefit our schools and taxpayers.
  • Our students deserve access to the best educational opportunities. To achieve a goal of becoming the highest-ranked public school district in Wisconsin, I am dedicated to working with the board to:

Retaining and Supporting Quality Teachers: Implementing strategies to support and retain exceptional educators who are crucial in shaping our students' futures. This includes professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and fair compensation to retain our most valuable assets – our exceptional educators.

Enhancing Educational Excellence: Collaborating with administrators and educators to explore innovative teaching methods, resources, and extracurricular programs that will elevate the overall experience for our students.
  • A school board should be a true representation of the community it serves. I am dedicated to: Collaborating with Teachers: Ensuring teachers' voices are heard in decision-making processes, addressing concerns, and fostering a collaborative environment. Engaging Parents: Actively seeking input from parents to better understand the needs and aspirations of our students, and incorporating their perspectives into policy decisions. Empowering Students: Creating avenues for students to voice their opinions and concerns, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability in their educational journey.
As a Franklin Public School Board member, I'm passionate about working to address teacher and teacher aid retention, improve math and literacy scores district-wide, and support our students post-graduation endeavors.
My passion for the education system stems from my beloved mother, an educator and principal for over 36 years. Inspired by her sincere devotion and hard work in the education field, I decided to first run for the school board in 2021 and it has been a privilege to serve as the Treasurer and advocate for all our teachers. I look forward to continuing the work if re-elected on April 2nd.
Every single teacher, student, parent, and Franklin community member.
Ensuring the safety of our students is paramount. Leveraging my expertise as a board-certified physician, I will actively assess and improve safety measures, addressing concerns related to data hacks, natural disasters, and other potential risks. By collaborating with experts and stakeholders, we will implement effective safety protocols to protect our staff and students.
There are a few issues I would give more attention to if re-elected to the school board:

1. Maintenance of our school facilities and making important renovations while optimizing tax dollars. The estimate as of today is 150 million. In 2023 I brought an amendment to the resolution decreasing the tax levy from 13.2 % to 5 % while paying part of the school debt, improving the financial health of FPS and the entire Franklin community.

2. Addressing staff retention by offering attractive compensation packages and making a destination district. I supported the creation of a Better Place to Work Taskforce (teacher retention task force) to ensure FPS takes the necessary steps to support our vital staff.

3. Improving literacy and math scores which has been affected due to COVID nationally and Franklin is not immune to it. I was a board liaison in May 2022 for policy review. during this time, grading policy came up for review. I advocated improving the grading policy to meet with the surrounding districts so our kids could get a fair platform.
