María Celeste Arrarás is a reporter for Telemundo, a Spanish-language television network that is owned by NBCUniversal. Celeste Arrarás is the host of Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste and Telemundo's primetime news show, Noticiero Telemundo.[1]
Celeste Arrarás moderated the tenth Republican presidential primary debate on February 25, 2016, in Houston, Texas, along with Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash of CNN and Hugh Hewitt of Salem Media Group.[2]
Career
A native of Peurto Rico, María Celeste Arrarás graduated from Loyola University.[3] She joined Telemundo, a Spanish-langauge television network, in 1986 in New York. Eight years later she went over to Univision, also a Spanish-langauge network, and co-hosted Primer Impacto, an early primetime news show.[4]
In 2002, Celeste Arrarás returned to Telemundo and began hosting Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste and co-hosting Noticiero Telemundo with José Díaz-Balart.[5] Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste is an hour-long news program covering a variety of local, national and international news.[6]
Celeste Arrarás is the author of two books, Make Your Life Prime Time (Vive tu vida al rojo vivo) and Selena's Secrets (El Secreto de Selana). Make Your Life Prime Time, published in 2011, is a memoir of Celeste Arrarás life in journalism.[7] Published in 2015, Selena's Secrets chronicles the murder of singer Selena Quintanilla in 1995.[8]
Celeste Arrarás has been a contributor on NBC's Today, NBC News' Dateline, and the NBC Nightly News. She has also received an Emmy Award for her research in journalism.[4] In 2009, she appeared on the cover of Newsweek as one of the magazine's "20 Most Powerful Women of the Next Generation."[4] She has also contributed to The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post and The Miami Herald.[4]

February 25, 2016 Republican debate
In February 2016, CNN announced that it will host the tenth Republican presidential primary debate on February 25, 2016. The debate was moderated by María Celeste Arrarás along with Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash of CNN and Hugh Hewitt of Salem Media Group.[2] The debate took place in Houston, Texas at the University of Houston.[9] In October 2015, Celeste Arrarás interviewed Democratic 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, but this was Celeste Arrarás' first presidential debate.[10]
Telemundo televised the debate live in Spanish. Telemundo, according to CNN, is the only Spanish-langauge network that the Republican National Committee has sanctioned for the 2016 debates.[2]
