My first ancestors to set foot in Idaho were early day pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail in 1846.

I am a self made entrepreneur, inventor and successful business owner of 25+ years. 18 years forestry and logging industry, interspersed with fighting forest fires. Founded Eberlein Fine Cabinetry in 1996 and moved the business to Post Falls, Idaho in 2001. Owned and operated the company until 2014 when elected Kootenai County Commissioner.

Born and raised in the small town of Tonasket in eastern Washington. Semi-retired, live in Post Falls, Idaho with wife Elaine of 42 years. We have four children and 12 grandchildren. Active in church, pursue the study of history and philosophy, avid outdoorsman and Life Member of the NRA. Enjoy travel, fishing, hunting, shooting, bicycling and cross-country skiing. I enjoy Kootenai County's history, culture, and scenery.
  • God, Family and Country. The Constitution is the guarantor of our rights and must be defended at all costs. Never forget, those went who before us paid a high price for those freedoms.
  • It is essential that Idahoan's right to the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property is defended. Hence, Jefferson's words, that government is best which governs least. Idaho was not created to be a nanny state.
  • A legislator should have intimate knowledge of the needs and concerns of their electors/county/district so as to properly represent them in Boise. Experience matters. Learn to walk before you run.
Key focus issues are; the right to life, defending the Constitution, least impactful means and lowest possible taxation needed to fund services, school choices and health care choices, fostering business friendly environment, that any administrative rules must be approved by both House and Senate.

Idaho is home. Future generations depend upon this generation to keep Idaho a great place to call home. Economic opportunities and jobs are essential to a thriving economy. The surest way to stop a thriving economy is more bureaucracy and higher taxes. Property taxes are out of hand, the grocery tax needs to be eliminated, and the growth of government needs to be checked. Most North Idahoans are advocates of the 2nd Amendment, proponents of parental choices of schools and healthcare freedom, and are ProLife. We must be ever vigilant of threats to Idaho's conservative outlook coming from liberal ideologues that would stifle our lifestyle and even compromise our basic liberties. Even now, tax burdens are sapping Idahoans on a daily basis. Parental rights, gun rights, healthcare freedom, and even life itself are at stake. I have witnessed first-hand the effects of these challenges while serving as County Commissioner. Many of these issues can only be resolved by the state legislature. Boise needs to hear conservative voices to preserve the Idaho we all love.
Jesus Christ and his saints

Rand Paul for his keen understanding of the Constitution

Ted Cruz for his ability ferret out the truth from those who don't want to tell the truth
Morals, integrity and a working knowledge of both the US and Idaho constitution
To quote a friend "It was a pleasure to work with Marc. He is a man of high moral standards and integrity who always puts the taxpayer first." says Dan Green, former Kootenai County Commissioner
1968, Walter Cronkite and the body counts in Vietnam, the assassinations of MLK and RFK, and Apollo 8 are fused together as one memory when 8 years old
Experience matters. First you learn to walk than you learn to run.

I have that unique knowledge of taxpayer and local government needs and issues gained while serving as County Commissioner, and member of the Board of Directors of Idaho Association of Counties. That experience is essential when debating legislation which could adversely affect taxpayers and local government. For example, unfunded mandates, or a "must have" new program introduced with temporary introductory funding and the long term tax burden to be borne by taxpayers. Experience matters.

Core principles matter too: I embrace the principles of government held by the Founding Fathers of this nation. Those principles live within our Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States of America. Those same principles of governance are also found within the Idaho State Constitution. The Founders of this nation warned that for our constitutional republic to endure, two things are essential; Americans need to be ever vigilant and active in government; and, this form of government only functions with a moral and religious people.
Health care, schools, growth, taxes and keeping the constitutions of the USA and Idaho as they were written
