Marc Kantrowitz
R. Marc Kantrowitz was an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. He was appointed to this position by Governor Paul Cellucci and he took office on February 5, 2001.[1] Kantrowitz retired on August 14, 2015.[2]
Education
Kantrowitz graduated from Ohio University with a B.A. in history in 1972. In 1974, he received his M.A. in political science from Ohio University. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1978.
Military service
Kantrowitz served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1972 to 1985, leaving as a Captain in the Quartermaster Corps.[1]
Career
Kantrowitz began his legal career in 1979 as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County. In 1985, he began a private law practice in Boston. He was appointed to the juvenile court in 1995, where he served until his appointment to the court of appeals. Throughout his career, he has written many law-related books and articles, and he has taught criminal trial advocacy at Northeastern University School of Law.[1]
