|Term limits are why Dr. Marcie Adkins entered the race. Marcie sees no valid reason why Mayfield should be on the ballot because she served 8 years in the House, followed by 8 years in the Senate. Marcie does recognize that the “term limits loophole” cause by the word “consecutive” in the Florida Constitution has caused this quagmire. Nevertheless, the 1992 term limits ballot language & our 78% vote for term limits makes our feelings clear. Cleaning up the Florida Constitution on term limits to reflect the will of the people is a key issue Marcie will continue to fight for.
Florida needs legislators with strength in economics. Marcie earned a Ph.D. in Economics from UF, worked as a staff economist in Tallahassee, then ran her own Economic Consulting firm for 30 years. She will use her economic skills to minimize taxation, focus on our insurance crisis & reduce wasteful spending.
Dr. Adkins knows Brevard better than any other candidate: She moved to beachside Brevard as a young child in 1967. Marcie left to go to UF and to work in State government for a few years, returning to Brevard in 1996 when she moved to Grant-Valkaria where she raised her family. This gives Marcie unique insight into the local issues that matter most: the health of the Indian River lagoon, overdevelopment without adequate infrastructure, and our homeowners’ insurance crisis.- I firmly believe in term limits because they ensure fresh ideas, new leadership, and accountability in government. Voters enacted term limits for a reason—to prevent career politicians from clinging to power at the expense of progress.
Unfortunately, my opponent is exploiting a technical loophole to extend their time in office beyond the eight-year limit that the people intended. This is not just a violation of the spirit of the law—it is a betrayal of public trust. Leadership should be about service, not self-preservation.
The voters deserve better. I am running to bring integrity back to this office, to ensure that our government remains accountable, and to respect the will of the people. - As a Ph.D. Economist and YOUR State Senator, I will work hard to ensure our tax dollars are spent wisely and to DOGE EVERYTHING! We must stay on a narrow, conservative financial path to ensure our state prospers and our future generations are as secure as possible.” My journey from a young staff economist at Florida’s Taxation and Budget Reform Commission to a seasoned entrepreneur and 30-year small business owner equipped me with expertise and determination required to tackle the challenges facing Senate District 19 and the state as a whole.
- Florida’s natural environment and natural resources are of critical concern to me. I was aghast last year when the State rolled out its plans for pickle ball courts and other development in our State parks. I am thankful that a bill has come out of the Senate to stop this travesty. If for some reason it does not pass this year, I intend to stay on top of this critical issue. Our Indian River Lagoon is a natural sanctuary that has become horribly degraded since the time of my youth. As a child, I remember raking oysters and clams with my dad in South Melbourne Beach, a pastime that is no longer available due to the long term pollution. Insuring money for Indian River clean-up continues to flow to Brevard will be a top priority.
Environment and Natural Resources - protecting our State Parks and areas of critical environmental concern
Steve was one of my lifetime best friends. Like Patsy Kurth, I always felt that Steve listened to me and really cared about me.
In college, I worked as a receptionist. Post-undergraduate, I worked as a biochemist at Shands Hospital for 3 years because my first degree was in Chemistry.
Since I hated being a chemist, I pursued many other classes at UF part-time and then found Economics, a subject I loved and thrived with. I earned my PhD.
Post-PhD, I worked for the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission as their staff economist for 1 year and then the Florida Department of Labor, for another year.
I definitely want my constituents to feel like I care about them, as Patsy cared about me.

|Marcie is a professional economist who holds a Ph.D. in economics, making her the ideal Representative for restoring our suppressed economy.
Marcie moved to Brevard County 53 years ago and has a deep love for Brevard. Her memories of the Indian River Lagoon of her youth motivate her goals of restoring our precious waterways.- Now more than ever, our State needs an economist in the legislature to help us recover from this unprecendented time. When elected, I will be the only representative with a PhD in Economics.
- My position on the 2nd Amendment shall not be infringed. I will fight to restore the rights my opponent voted to take away, which he called "minor." There is nothing minor about the right to protect yourself, and it will be a MAJOR part of my agenda.
- Politicians are to serve, not be served. Representatives have to respect the people they serve and not suppress their rights. Bullying and arrogance has proven for 2 terms now to be an ineffective way to get things done for our district. It's time for a change.
