March 7, 2017 ballot measures in California
There were 22 local ballot measures on ballots across nine of California's 58 counties. Fourteen of those measures were on the ballot for voters in Los Angeles county. The following counties feature local ballot measures:
One of the most noteworthy measures on the ballot is development-related Measure S, which Los Angeles city voters decided.
According to final election results, 15 measures were approved, and seven were defeated.
Measure S, the development-related initiative in Los Angeles was defeated. Los Angeles city voters approved a marijuana regulation ordinance proposed by the city council—Measure M—and rejected a competing marijuana-related initiative—Measure N. Ultimately, there wasn't a battle over the two different measures since Measure N's proponents abandoned support of their initiative and urged voters to approve the city council's referral instead.
Measure H, the Los Angeles County measure to impose a sales tax was behind the required two-thirds (66.67%) vote until the last 8 percent of precincts reported, shifting the results from almost a point below the required 66.67 percent to about two points above it. It was ultimately approved.
