Marcia Phillips Parsons
Marcia Phillips Parsons was a federal bankruptcy judge of the United States bankruptcy court, Eastern District of Tennessee. She was appointed on November 23, 1993. She retired on September 30, 2020.[1] Parsons served as chief judge from July 2, 2012, to her retirement.[2][3][4]
Education
Parsons earned a bachelor of science from the University of North Alabama and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.[5]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Parsons began her legal career as a law clerk for Magistrate Judge Roger W. Dickson. She then entered into private practice, first with the law firm of Stophel, Caldwell & Heggie, and later with Wanger, Myers and Sanger. She was then appointed as the Chapter 13 trustee for the Northern and Northeastern Divisions of the Eastern District of Tennessee, where she remained until she took the bench.[2]
