Campaign themes
Easton's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Marcellus Shale
- Excerpt: "Educate all citizens about the potential positive and negative impacts that drilling may have in our district and statewide. It is difficult to say whether or not I support one way or the other at this time, however, addressing the pros and cons to our citizens in layman’s terms will allow YOU (and me) to make informed, educated and logical decisions. It is important that we find the correct balance of environmental safety while maximizing the positive economic impacts that Marcellus Shale drilling may have on our area."
Coal
- Excerpt: "I do not want to see the federal government ruin the lively hood of many of our citizens in District 42. We have to find a balance with the EPA and Feds in order for the coal industry to continue to thrive. Our state produces one of the most important natural resources on earth. Let’s keep it that way!"
