An effort to recall Precinct 4 City Councilwoman Marcola Lawler did not go to a vote in Albion, Michigan.[1]

Recall supporters

Resident Thomas Arndts initiated the recall process on March 21, 2022. The proposed recall petition language appears below:[2]

During a recent council meeting of March 2022, Ms. Lawler said she was proposing a resolution for re-districting process for her 'own P.R.' [3]

Recall opponents

Lawler objected to the proposed petition language, saying, "We are not clear on this language of what exactly [Thomas Arndts] means by me saying my own P.R. ... P.R. could mean anything."[4]

The Calhoun County Election Commission approved the recall petition for circulation in a clarity hearing on April 4, 2022.[2] Lawler said she would appeal the decision to the Calhoun County Circuit Court.[4]

For a special recall election to have been scheduled, organizers needed to collect signatures from 74 registered district voters. This figure represented 25% of the total votes cast for governor in Lawler's district during the previous gubernatorial election.[2]

No recall election was scheduled after organizers did not turn in signatures.[5]
