In addition to my professional work, I’ve been deeply involved in various organizations that allow me to give back to the community. I serve as Treasurer of the Desert Recreation Foundation, where we actively raise funds to enhance parks and programs for families, seniors, and youth. I’m also proud to be Treasurer of the Carreon Foundation, supporting scholarships and educational opportunities for underserved students. As part of the Young Leaders Advisory Council for the South Coast AQMD, I represent the Coachella Valley on matters affecting air quality. As a Treasurer of the College of the Desert Alumni Association, I work to create opportunities for fellow alumni. Through these roles, I’ve been able to contribute meaningfully to the causes I care about and advocate for the community.

I am committed to enhancing recreational spaces by improving parks and facilities, ensuring families, seniors, and youth have access to quality areas for activities and community engagement. I believe in fostering community collaboration by partnering with local organizations, schools, and government agencies to expand access to programs and resources that benefit everyone. Accountability in leadership is essential to me, and I strive for transparency in governance to prioritize community needs in decision-making. Additionally, I advocate for sustainable development, supporting responsible growth while protecting our financial resources.

My goal is to ensure that families, seniors, and youth have the resources and spaces they need to thrive and connect. I hope to be remembered for fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, advocating for transparent and accountable governance, and driving initiatives that enhance the quality of life in our district. Ultimately, I want to create a sustainable model of community engagement and support that inspires future leaders to prioritize the needs of our residents and continue building on the progress we've made together.
My very first job was helping my parents with their small business. From a young age, I was involved in various aspects of our business, from customer service to actually setting up the tables and chairs. This experience taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, and attention to detail. I developed essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, and time management, which have been invaluable throughout my career. Working alongside my parents instilled in me a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the entrepreneurial spirit, shaping my understanding of the challenges and rewards of running a small business.

By addressing the specific needs of families, seniors, and youth, it ensures equitable access to recreational activities. Additionally, the office collaborates with various stakeholders, including local organizations, schools, and government agencies, to create comprehensive initiatives that strengthen community bonds. This collaborative approach positions the Desert Recreation District as a key player in promoting health, wellness, and community cohesion, making it indispensable to the overall well-being of the region.

Manuel Perez, County Supervisor 4th District, Dr. Edwin Gomez, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Glenn Miller, Indio Mayor Pro-tem, Kathleen Kelly, Palm Desert Councilmember, Steve Downs, Rancho Mirage Mayor, Carmina Zavala, Desert Healthcare District Trustee

I believe that financial transparency and government accountability are essential for building trust between public officials and the communities they serve. Transparency allows citizens to see how their tax dollars are spent, ensuring that funds are directed toward initiatives that genuinely benefit the community, such as recreational programs and public services. I advocate for open budgeting processes and regular reporting on expenditures, which encourage community involvement in funding discussions. Accountability means public officials must be responsible for their actions, supported by oversight mechanisms and community feedback. These principles foster integrity and responsiveness, ultimately leading to effective governance and a sense of shared responsibility within our community.
