Marcus D. Williams (Virginia)
Marcus D. Williams was a circuit court judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit in Fairfax County, Virginia. He served as a judge from 1990 until his retirement from the court in 2012.[1]
Education
Williams received his undergraduate degree from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his J.D. from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Williams also completed a fellowship at the City of London Polytechnic School of Business Studies and the London School of Economics.[2]
Career
Following law school, Williams began his legal career serving as an assistant commonwealth's attorney for Fairfax County for seven years.
In 1987, Williams was elected as a district court judge for the 19th Judicial District. Three years later, in 1990, he was appointed as a circuit court judge on the 19th Judicial Circuit. At the time of his appointment, Williams was the youngest judge in Virginia. He sat on the bench until his retirement in 2012.[1][2]
During his legal career, Williams also taught as an adjunct professor at the George Mason University School of Law, the George Mason University School of Business Administration, and the National Judicial College.[1]
