Biography
Marcus Floyd was born in Cleveland, Mississippi. He earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2007 and a J.D. from Belmont University College of Law in 2015. Floyd attended Nashville State Community College.[1]

|high school. After graduating from Hillsboro, Marcus began at Nashville State Technical College where he studied Police Science, and transferred to Middle Tennessee State University earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. Prior to attending law school, he served as a Probation Officer. Marcus went on to attend Belmont College of Law. At Belmont Law, Marcus made Dean’s List, was Bruins Scholarship Award Recipient, and serve as an Executive Member of the Board of Advocates.
Marcus has spent his entire legal career in public service. Marcus has served as a Judicial Law Clerk,
Prosecutor, Policy Advisor, and Public Defender. As an assistant district attorney, he managed thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases in General Sessions and Criminal Court, including matters ranging from simple driver’s license cases to Aggravated Robbery and Homicide. Marcus was also a founding member of Nashville’s Conviction Review Unit, established to investigate, review and overturn wrongful convictions. During his time as Senior Criminal Justice Policy Advisor to the Mayor, Marcus served as a central point of contact for many members of the community to help resolve justice-related issues. While at the Mayor’s Office, Marcus guided the Community Oversight Board from a ballot initiative to a self-sufficient government agency.- Fairness
