Marcus Gordon was a former judge of the Eighth Judicial District in Mississippi.[1] He was first appointed to the court in 1977 but resigned in 1987, deciding to re-enter private practice. He returned to the bench by election in 1990 and retired on March 4, 2016.[2][3] He died on May 26, 2016.[4]

Education

Beginning his post-secondary education at East Central Community College in 1950, Gordon left after one semester to enlist in the United States Air Force. After four years of service, Gordon was discharged and returned to ECCC, eventually graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi. He went on to receive his J.D. there in 1959.[2]

General: He defeated Don Kilgore in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 59.3 percent of the vote. [5]
