Marcus L. Mumford is a judge of the Superior Court of Stanislaus County in California. He assumed office in 2021.

He was appointed to the court on March 25, 2021 by Gavin Newsom (D) to fill the vacancy of a new position created on September 24, 2019.[1]

Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Mumford's appointment on March 25, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.[1]

Biography

Mumford received his J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He was a Law Clerk at the San Diego County Superior Court from 1997 to 2000. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Sole Practitioner. Prior to his appointment, he had served as a Deputy Public Defender at the Stanislaus County Public Defender’s Office since 2001.[1]
