Campaign themes

2014

Madison's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Building Strong Communities

  • Excerpt: "To build strong communities, we need to continue to fund projects to improve infrastructure. I know the potential of our district because I’ve lived in it my entire life. Whether it’s turning an abandoned lot into a safe place for our children to play or re-paving roads, I’ll work to make sure that we’re focusing on making our community the best that it can be."

Education

  • Excerpt: "Schools are at the center of our communities. Providing our children with a quality education is of the utmost importance, but we can’t do that if funding for our schools is repeatedly slashed. I’ll fight for our schools so that our children can an education that sets them up for success."

Protecting Workers

  • Excerpt: "Public employees are the backbone of our state and deserve the respect and support of their government. I will stand up against attacks on the rights of our dedicated firefighters, police officers and teachers."

Strengthening the Middle Class

  • Excerpt: "It’s time to turn the economy in Ohio in the right direction. I’ll work to bring good-paying jobs to our state that won’t disappear after a year or two. By creating jobs, we can grow the middle class and give more Ohioans the opportunity to live comfortably, instead of worrying from month to month whether or not a job will come along to help pay the bills."
