|Marcus sits on the boards of Operation Kid Forward, Family Promise, the NAACP - Bryan County Branch, and Radiant Church. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and Alumni of Leadership Savannah Class of 19-20.
Passion. He is passionate about fighting for the right for a woman to choose. He is passionate about children learning how to become a service to the community(especially his daughter). He is passionate about building a strong foundation for all people. He is passionate about nurturing relationships and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to succeed. He is passionate about making sure people have adequate protections and that our children are safe.He is passionate about education for all children, as it is 2nd only to the safety of children.
Marcus has proven leadership skills and has a genuine heart for the People. The best way to serve is to build relationships that will bring every person together, regardless of if we believe or don’t look quite the same.
Marcus is running for All of Us.- Quality Healthcare - Georgia is in a healthcare crisis. 1. Maternal Mortality Rate 49th n US. 2. Lack of reproductive rights. 3. Closure of hospitals 48th in US. 4. Lack of access to insurance 48th in US. 5. Over 80 of the 159 counties in GA don’t have an OBGYN or specialist. When Georgians get sick they are faced with a commute of 30-90 mins just to reach a facility that could help whether you are pregnant or you have broken a leg. THEN chances are once you get there you will not have adequate insurance. I will focus on correcting these deficient by partnering with other Representatives and fight to use the 6.5 Billion Surplus and expand Medicaid to help pull my fellow Georgians out of this crisis.
- Quality Education - listening to the educators. Period. Legislators are making decisions that greatly affect educators, what they can teach and history (scary) we do not have the right to do this. Lawmakers are not educators…I will form a taskforce of educators in district 164 that will consist of administrators, this is how I will make my decisions about what is best for educations standards…by listening to the educators, thus increasing the quality of education for ALL of US.
- Quality Jobs with Better Pay - Forming strong relationships with employers and groups to give more of a voice All of US. We are #1 for businesses but have failed the People that work them. District 164 has a class of workers that fall into a very large gap between having the ability to request assistance from the state and making enough money to disqualify a family from that assistance, but they maintain a steady job. That job however, does not provide enough income to take care of the household. For 1 person that line is 12, 880, for 2 person households that line is 17,420 and for a 3 person household that line is 21,960. I would place a spotlight on this travesty and ensure that I build legislation to help bring this to an end.
1. Maternal Mortality Rate 2nd highest US. 2. Lack of reproductive rights, thanks to HB481. 3. Closure of hospitals 3rd highest in US. 4. Lack of access to insurance 3rd highest in US. 5. Over 80 of the 159 counties in GA don’t have an OBGYN or specialist.
First and foremost we are letting Georgia women die in our state...just to give birth. We are officially the 2nd most dangerous state to have a live birth in. Add to that the fact that HB481 has stolen the right for a woman to choose what happens to her body and you have an incredibly dangerous recipe for more lost lives. This tragic piece of legislation does not make exceptions for rape or incest and only gives 6 weeks to choose a future. We need to roll this back and revisit this law.
The average Georgian is faced with a commute of 30-90 mins just to reach a facility that could help whether you are pregnant or you have broken a leg. THEN chances are once you get there you will not have adequate insurance.
If - By Rudyard Kipling (excerpt)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
2. Steadfast
3. Decisions based on Fact
4. Lead by example
5. Listen to all, not just some
These are the reasons I decided to run.

|I don't own a chain of pharmacies, I don't own a line of stores, and I am not retired. I don't have plenty of time on my hands, I don't have a maid. We don't have a nanny.
Leadership and accountability are my life blood, and will keep me up at night, if they are not carried out in the truest way possible.
I am running for the Georgia House because we need someone who represents us. All of us, in Bryan County, in Chatham County, In Liberty County and across the state.
Georgia has long been lauded as being the number one state for business. We need someone who will work to make Georgia number one for quality Health Care, and Number One for Education, and Number one for quality jobs with great pay.
Make me your Representative, and I will make sure the people of my District will have a voice.- 1. Quality Healthcare - I will make sure that the people that want and need healthcare, have it and when they have it, that it will be quality healthcare.
- 2. Quality Jobs - I will fight to bring more jobs to this district, but jobs with better pay, more affordable benefits and consistent guidance.
- 3. Quality Education - Every Georgian who wants a quality education should have it, and it should not matter where you live. I will ensure that education is not based on your financial worth, but you right to life and liberty.
As a survivor of Stevens-Johnsons Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrosis Syndrome (TENS), I know, first-hand, how quality healthcare has impacted my life.
I have always loved space, so to see this happen brought me closer to space and made me appreciate the sacrifice of the astronauts that make it possible.
