I am a bridge-building problem solver with experience in the global agribusiness industry, pastoral ministry, and small business development. My broad set of experiences have given me unique insights into the potential greatness of our state, but also the challenges that our people face. I have shipped Illinois-grown commodities all over the world, but I have also sat with families devastated by the opioid crisis. I have started non-profits and a small business, while also working with social service agencies to serve the homeless. I am lucky husband and a proud dad, who recognizes that my generation must do something to put Illinois on a different path, for the sake of my children.
  • Illinois is a state uniquely blessed by its land, it's infrastructure, and the resilience of its people. It has been poorly governed and the bonds of trust have been broken between citizen and government. Those bonds must be restored.
  • The toxic nature of our partisan politics makes solving real problems nearly impossible. It is time to find common ground for the sake of the common good. As an Independent I will listen to all voices, consult with the people of my district, and provide real solutions.
  • The politics of false promises and canned rhetoric has failed our state. It is time to be honest with one another and face our challenges head-on, for the sake of future generations.
The people of Illinois deserve a government they can trust. That will require bold changes to the policies that have created a culture of corruption in our state.

Illinois is blessed with productive land and logistical advantages to every other state in the Union. These attributes must be leveraged to create a new era of economic growth in our state.
Illinois must continue to build on its solid foundation of renewable energy sources. This benefits our economy, but also is a necessary component of doing our part to combat climate change.

As a state we must do a better job of caring for our vulnerable children. Our system is underfunded and undermanned. Investing in the safety and potential of at-risk children is our duty.
I grew up mowing farms, but my first real job was patching roads for the local township. It was a sweet gig now that I think about. I would drive around finding spots that needed attention, pour the patch, and smooth it out. Occasionally someone would pop out of their house and offer me something to drink, and those gifts were much appreciated. Of course the township commissioner was a farmer, so some of those days I would end up bailing hay, so being a politician doesn't sound so bad. I did that work for three summers.
