Marcy Friedman
Marcy S. Friedman was a judge for the New York County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to this position in 2000 and retired from the court on December 31, 2020.[1][2]. She was also a judge of the New York City Civil Court, a position to which she was elected in 1994. She was re-elected to the Civil Court in 2013.[3][4][5]
2013 election
Friedman ran for re-election to the New York City Civil Court, New York County (Manhattan), 2nd District. General: She won without opposition in the general election on November 5, 2013. Adam Silvera and Kathryn E. Freed were also on the ballot. Candidates ran for three seats.[6][5]
Education
Friedman received her B.A. degree from Smith College in 1972. She then attended Oxford University, St. Anne's College in 1974 before enrolling in the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, where she received her J.D. degree in 1977.[3][4]
Career
Friedman was appointed judge of the Housing Court of the New York City Civil Court in 1991. In 1994, she was elected judge of this Civil Court. She was re-elected to this position in 2004 and served as an acting justice of the Supreme Court from 2000 to 2020.[3]
