Margaret Gillespie
Margaret Gillespie (b. February 15, 1969) was a Democratic member of the South Dakota State Senate from 2009 to 2011, representing the 16th District. Gillespie did not run for re-election to the 16th District seat in 2010.[1] Prior to leaving the senate, she served as the Minority Whip.
Gillespie also served in the South Dakota State House from 2000-2008.
Gillespie has worked as a reporter for KELO-Television. She worked as an attorney for Minnehaha County Public Defender's Office from 1996 to 1999. She has worked as an attorney for Gallard Legal Clinic since 2000. She has also worked as a lawyer for Gubboud, Hougland and Gillespie since 2001.
Gillespie earned her B.A. from Augustana College in 1991. She went on to receive her J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1996.

Elections
2010
Gillespie did not run for re-election to the 16th District seat in 2010. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.
2008
On Nov. 4, 2008, Gillespie won election to the 16th District Seat in the South Dakota State Senate, defeating opponent Kenneth Albers (R).[2]
Gillespie raised $17,224 for her campaign while Albers raised $24,626.[3]
