I am a life-long resident of Garland, TX. I served on the Parks Board and Plan Commission from 2016 to 2022. I spent the last six years dedicated to improving and serving our community. I remember when there were ample retail, restaurant, and shopping opportunities in District 5, and I believe we can achieve that once again. By increasing safety; beautifying our surroundings; completing bond program projects Garland promised us; and, most importantly, demanding innovative and unique economic development that will catalyze growth, District 5 can become a thriving place to live once again. I love what Garland has to offer, that is why I live here. I believe it can be so much more, that is why I am running for council.
  • Dedicated Representation: I will ensure we live in a safer, more beautiful community. Residents should have access to better restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, and employment opportunities. We funded a $423 million bond program, and I want to see the 2019 bond projects completed. District 5 will require thoughtful development in the next few years, and the result will change the face of our district for decades to come. I will make communication, discussion, and feedback with constituents a top priority.
  • Leadership Knowledge: I attended GISD public schools, I am a resident, and I work in District 5. I began my service on the Parks and Recreation Board in 2016 where I advocated for park improvements, connectivity through trails, and renovations of neglected facilities. The opportunity to participate fueled my passion to serve. I co-founded The Garland Parks Foundation and serve as Board President. As a Plan Commissioner, I had the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge about our city's zoning, code, and long-term goals. I understand the complexities of budgeting and our city's revenue stream.
  • District 5 Driven Policy: I will advocate on behalf of our district. The betterment and needs of all in District 5 will be the guiding light of every decision I make.
Safety: Increasing safety requires supporting the Neighborhood Police Officer Program and its outreach to residents; aiding and informing neighborhood associations and crime watch groups; expanding the license plate reader and gunshot detector programs; and increasing security at our parks and along trails with lighting and surveillance. I support funding police. We have great services in Garland, and I support civil servants and the wonderful work they do to maintain our everyday lives and safety.

Revitalization: District 5 needs quality restaurants, shopping, entertainment, grocery stores, and employment opportunities. We must improve the 635 corridor, Garland Road, and deteriorating shopping centers. We have a huge opportunity to increase economic momentum throughout the district by creating anchor developments at the Hollywood Theater and cement batch plant (the former Hypermart location). Beautification of thoroughfares and enforcing the code ordinances we already have in place will uplift our district and make it a more enjoyable place to live. Our large industrial sector requires local, regional, and international connectivity. By providing businesses with updated infrastructure and technology, we can supply desirable employment opportunities to our residents.

Bond Program: Garland residents funded a $423 million bond program, and I will do my best to ensure completion of the projects we voted and paid for.
Integrity, communication, and grit. Elected officials must represent with transparency and fairness. I understand, if elected, collaboration with my fellow councilmembers is essential to effecting change. One vote does not create policy and one person cannot hold onto an office if they ignore the wants and needs of their constituents. I am strong and determined. I will stand up for District 5 and I will defend our right to improve our community.
I want people to think of kindness and strength when they remember me. I want them to remember my service to the community, and hopefully, that I left this world a better place than I found it.
My father founded Precision Ceramics Dental Laboratory in Garland in 1980. During summer break when I was ten, I worked in the porcelain department as an opaquer. He paid me $2.50 an hour and took out taxes. I worked at the lab for many summers. While attending college, he needed help at the lab. I did not have a clear area of study at the time, so I returned in 2003. I took over the porcelain department and business operations. I became a certified dental technician in 2011 and I did return to school to earn an Associates in Biology. I equipped the lab with CAD/CAM technology and custom milling in 2014. I managed Precision Ceramics until my father's sudden passing in 2021. Dental technology allowed me to combine science and art, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to spend every day with my dad. Though it is no longer a path I wish to pursue, the legacy my father built will continue. My childhood friend and former Precision Ceramics employee is purchasing the lab. The best part is, she works with her son.

Garland City Councilmembers appoint the members of boards and commissions. As a former Parks board member and Plan Commissioner, I know how important these bodies are. The input from citizen advisory boards is critical in all departments. They provide a platform for communication with residents and serve as a voice for the community.
Yes. Knowledge of city operations, ordinances, code, and budget are qualities that improve policy making. How one participates in such a forum is a learned skill. My experience in those areas sets me apart from my opponents.

Because in charge of directing, Yoda was.
