Margaret M. Sweeney is a federal judge on senior status for the United States Court of Federal Claims. She joined the court in 2005 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). Sweeney assumed senior status on October 23, 2020. President Donald Trump (R) nominated Sweeney to be the chief judge on July 12, 2018. She served in this capacity until her retirement on October 23, 2020.[1]

Education

Sweeney received her B.A. from Notre Dame of Maryland in 1977 and her J.D. from Delaware Law School in 1981.[1]

Sweeney was nominated to the United States Court of Federal Claims by President George W. Bush (R) on October 24, 2005. She was confirmed by the Senate on December 14, 2005, and immediately entered duty. She assumed senior status on October 23, 2020. President Donald Trump (R) nominated Sweeney to be the chief judge on July 12, 2018. She served in this capacity until her retirement on October 23, 2020.[1]

Sweeney was a special master for the United States Court of Federal Claims from 2003 to 2005.[1]
