Margaret Van Houten is a judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. Her current term ends on January 1, 2027.

Van Houten ran for re-election for judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Van Houten was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder in March 2012 and was elected to the court in November 2012.[1] On November 4, 2014, Van Houten was re-elected unopposed for a full six-year term.[2] 

Biography

Education

Van Houten received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.[1]

Career

Prior to the joining the court, Van Houten spent twelve years in private practice. She also previously served as a city councilwoman for Dearborn Heights.[1]

Van Houten ran for re-election to the 3rd Circuit Court.
General: She was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [2] 

2012

Van Houten was one of three candidates competing for two seats on the 3rd Circuit Court in the general election on November 6, 2012. She was elected with 36.94% of the vote to a partial term which expires on January 1, 2015.[3][4]
