An effort to recall City Commissioner Margie Bentley Scott in Electra, Texas from her position was launched in August 2014.[1] Bentley Scott resigned on March 5, 2015.[2]

Proponent arguments

Resident Edna Tally targeted Scott for her alleged role in pushing to terminate police chief Johnny Morris, who was fired in January 2014.[1]

Petitioners needed to collect 118 signatures, equal to 20% of the almost 600 registered voters in the city. Tally turned in 149 signatures.[1] Bentley Scott resigned before the recall moved forward.[2]
